It's almost 2020 and we have several people crossing the 50 billion dollar mark, and two or three crossing the 100 billion dollar mark. However, a lot of times I ponder over the question as to who will be the first trillionaire on earth? (In this post, I'm referring to currency in USD)
Technology (Mainly software and solutions) have made hundreds of billionaires, but a trillionaire seems improbable. While there are speculations that Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos may be the first trillionaires, they won't get all their money through software and internet.

Asteroid Mining
There’s money to be made in the vast expanse of the universe. While at times posing a dire threat to our planet, asteroids are a source of untold wealth, ripe for the taking.
Several asteroids are within a reachable range, and with a large capital, private businesses will be mining them soon.
Asteroids contain a vast array of precious cargo, from gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and tungsten to cobalt and even water.
Asteroid mining will require a serious amount of gear. In any case, the asteroid miners of the future will likely require a space-worthy vessel, extraction equipment capable of operating in the vacuum of space, and all the supplies typically required for travel through the cosmos.
“While the psychological barrier to mining asteroids is high, the actual financial and technological barriers are far lower,” a Goldman Sachs report explains. “Prospecting probes can likely be built for tens of millions of dollars each and Cal tech has suggested an asteroid-grabbing spacecraft could cost $2.6 billion.”
Several probes are under construction:
Once these probes start, trillions will be coming in soon. The space industry has a huge potential to generate a lot of revenue.
Quantum Computing
While quantum computers are still at a nascent stage, billions of dollars are being invested in quantum computing companies.
Quantum computers are the future of tech and there is no denying this fact. As soon as commercial quantum computers launch, modern day encryption will be rendered useless. Bitcoin, which is dependent on the SHA 256 Algorithm will be mined at an extremely fast rate which will destabilize cryptocurrency or turn the Crypto Miners into Multi-Billionaires.

Furthermore, Governments will be willing to pay billions for quantum computers in order to process, monitor, and control exabytes of information.
Due to the tremendous processing speed of quantum computers, fields such as Medicine, Research, IOT, AI, Data Science, Space Research etc. will be impacted tremendously. Thousands of companies will rush for commercial quantum computers, and the manufacturing companies are bound to make trillions.
Global networks will be made exponentially faster and there may be a Quantum Revolution.

Another area where Quantum Computers will be used is Artificial Intelligence. Due to the tremendous procession power, we might catch a glimpse of the first Artificial Super Intelligence. This will have extremely broad market implications and can be used to predict stock markets, automate entire industries, and also develop a unified field theory
Once quantum computing reaches an advanced stage of developoment, it's uses will be limitless. Unimagined possibilities which will lead us into a new phase of evolution and surely create several trillionaires.
